Svalbard is one of the northernmost land-areas in the world. Most of this territory is still pristine, without roads or other signs of human intervention.
Longyearbyen is the largest settelment in Svalbard,located at latitude of 78°N with about 2.000 natives. This is a modern community of families with scools, kindergarten, a university campus, local paper, shops, restaurants, hospital, dentist, churtch and cultural activity of various kind.
The other settlement are Barentsburg, Sveagruva, Ny-Ålesund, Hornsund an on the islands Hopen and Bjørnøya.
